The McLaren MP4/9 was the Formula One car with which the McLaren team contested the 1994 World Championship. Neil Oatley designed it, and Mika Häkkinen and Martin Brundle drove it, with Philippe Alliot standing in for Häkkinen at the Hungarian Grand Prix. It was the first McLaren Formula One car to use Peugeot engines and the only one to use that engine, and the last to run on Shell fuel, which the team had used since 1984. The car was visually close to the MP4/8 before it, because regulations had banned driver aids such as active suspension and traction control. Unreliable Peugeot V10 engines kept it from winning a race, the first such season for McLaren since 1980, although it took several podiums.
