The McLaren MP4/8 was the Formula One car with which the McLaren team competed in the 1993 season. Neil Oatley designed it around advanced electronics, including a semi-automatic transmission, active suspension, two-way telemetry and traction control, and it was powered by the 3.5 litre Ford HBD7 V8 after Honda withdrew from the sport. Ayrton Senna won five races in it in his last season with McLaren and finished second in the drivers championship to Alain Prost, while McLaren was runner-up to Williams. Michael Andretti and later Mika Hakkinen drove the second car. A variant, the MP4/8B, was built to test a Lamborghini V12.
