McLaren MP4-28

Automobiles

The McLaren MP4-28 is the Formula One racing car that the McLaren team designed and built for the 2013 season, powered by a customer Mercedes-Benz engine. Paddy Lowe, Neil Oatley, Tim Goss, Mark Ingham and Marcin Budkowski designed the chassis, and Jenson Button and Sergio Pérez drove it, the latter joining after Lewis Hamilton moved to Mercedes. It was launched on 31 January 2013 as part of the fiftieth anniversary celebrations. The team felt the MP4-27 had reached the end of its development, so the car was a significant revision with a pullrod front suspension. It delivered the worst McLaren season in 33 years, with no podium finish, and was the last McLaren with Vodafone title sponsorship.
