McLaren MP4-27

Automobiles

The McLaren MP4-27 is the Formula One racing car that Vodafone McLaren Mercedes designed for the 2012 season, powered by a customer Mercedes-Benz engine. Paddy Lowe, Neil Oatley, Tim Goss, Andrew Bailey and John Iley designed the chassis, and former world champions Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton drove it. It was launched at the team base in Woking on 1 February 2012. The car was one of three that year without the so-called platypus nose, using a gradual sloped nose instead. It won seven races, took eight poles and finished third in the Constructors Championship. It was the last McLaren that Hamilton drove, and the last McLaren to win a race until the MCL35M did so in 2021.
