The McLaren MP4-20 was the car with which McLaren competed in the 2005 Formula One World Championship. Adrian Newey, Paddy Lowe, Pat Fry, Mike Coughlan and Peter Prodromou designed the chassis, and Mario Illien designed the bespoke Ilmor engine. Kimi Räikkönen and Juan Pablo Montoya drove it, and it was the last McLaren to be powered by Mercedes-Benz under the Ilmor partnership. The chassis was almost entirely new after the MP4-18 and MP4-19, with a wide flat nose and distinctive horn wings. Fast but fragile, it won ten races, seven by Räikkönen, yet reliability problems cost Räikkönen the drivers title and McLaren the constructors title.
