The McLaren MP4-19 was the car with which McLaren competed in the 2004 Formula One World Championship, driven by David Coulthard and Kimi Räikkönen. Adrian Newey, Paddy Lowe, Pat Fry, Mike Coughlan and Peter Prodromou designed the chassis, and Mario Illien designed the bespoke Ilmor engine. It was described as a debugged version of the failed MP4-18 but was not successful, with eight retirements in the first seven races. A radically redesigned MP4-19B appeared mid season, and Räikkönen won the Belgian Grand Prix with it, the team only victory of the year. McLaren finished fifth in the Constructors Championship with 69 points.
