The McLaren MCL60 is the Formula One car that McLaren designed and built, initially under the direction of James Key, for the 2023 World Championship. It debuted at the Bahrain Grand Prix, driven by Lando Norris and rookie Oscar Piastri. The first specification proved uncompetitive, with draggy aerodynamics and high tyre degradation, and Key left in March 2023, replaced by a new structure of technical directors led by Peter Prodromou and Neil Houldey. Major upgrades from the Austrian and Singapore Grands Prix transformed results, and the car went on to nine podiums, three fastest laps and a sprint victory, ending the season as a capable all-rounder and the foundation for the MCL38.
