The McLaren MCL34 is the Formula One racing car that Pat Fry designed and McLaren built for the 2019 World Championship. Carlos Sainz Jr., who joined from Renault, and Formula 2 runner-up Lando Norris drove it, replacing Fernando Alonso and Stoffel Vandoorne. It was powered by the Renault E-Tech 19 engine and made its debut at the 2019 Australian Grand Prix. A large improvement on the disappointing MCL33, it was often the best of the rest behind Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull. Its best result was Sainz third place at the Brazilian Grand Prix, his first podium and McLaren first since 2014, and the team took fourth in the Constructors Championship, its best finish in seven years.
