The McLaren MCL32, originally known as the MP4-32, is the Formula One racing car that McLaren designed and built for the 2017 FIA World Championship. Fernando Alonso, in his third season with the team, and Stoffel Vandoorne, who joined after Jenson Button retired from full-time competition, drove it. It made its competitive debut at the Australian Grand Prix and was the first McLaren since the M30 of 1980 without the MP4 prefix in its name, a change that followed the departure of Ron Dennis from the parent company. It was the last McLaren with a Honda engine before Renault units arrived in 2018. Unreliable Honda engines made 2017 a rough season, and the team scored no points until Alonso finished ninth at Baku.
