McLaren M30

Automobiles

The McLaren M30 is a Formula One racing car that McLaren built and ran for part of the 1980 season. It was a one-off car, primarily driven by Alain Prost, meant to capitalise further on ground effect design and take over from the M29, which was seen as obsolete. The only M30 was damaged in an accident in practice for the 1980 United States Grand Prix, and for 1981 the team returned to the M29. It was the last new car completed by McLaren before its merger with the Project 4 Formula 2 team of Ron Dennis. It was later sold, repaired and raced in UK Formule Libre and historic series, and since 2004 Sean Allen has raced it in the Historic Grand Prix in North America.
