The McLaren M22 is an open-wheel race car that McLaren designed and developed to compete in Formula 5000 racing in 1972. Like its predecessors it was made in large numbers, built close to the weight limit so that it was very light, and powered by a Chevrolet V8 engine of more than 500 hp. The cars were not made by McLaren itself but by the British racing car manufacturer Trojan, as with previous models, and this turned out to be the last Trojan-built McLaren Formula 5000 car.
