The Ligier JS51 is a sports prototype race car, designed, developed and built by Ligier since 2008. It conforms to FIA Group CN regulations to compete in sports car racing. It sits in the family of CN prototypes that began with the JS49 of 2004 and continued with the JS53 and the JS55, cars that give the French company a presence in club-level sports car racing alongside its better-known Le Mans prototypes and, historically, its Formula One cars. The JS designation honours Jo Schlesser, killed in the 1968 French Grand Prix.
