The Ligier JS49 is a sports prototype race car, designed, developed and built by Ligier since 2004. It conforms to FIA Group CN regulations to compete in sports car racing and uses a 2-litre Honda K-series engine. It is the first of a family of CN prototypes that Ligier has built, followed by the JS51, JS53 and JS55, which compete in sports car racing and hillclimbs. The JS designation honours Jo Schlesser, killed in the 1968 French Grand Prix, a friend of the company founder Guy Ligier.
