Lancia Zeta-12/15HP

Automobiles

The Lancia Zeta 12/15 HP was a small-engined Lancia touring car built in modest numbers between 1912 and 1914. It remains a rather mysterious model: it was often confused with the military Lancia-Ansaldo 1Z, although the most recent theory holds that the two were unrelated. Its four-cylinder engine of about 2.6 litres had a reduced displacement and differed from earlier Lancia engines in its crankshaft and cooling system, while the transmission paired a two-speed gearbox, built in one block with the differential, with a double crown wheel and pinion to give four ratios. Each rear wheel at first carried two concentric brakes, one worked by hand and one by pedal. Only about 34 were built.
