Lancia Y10

The Lancia Y10 was a small three door hatchback city car built from 1985 to 1996 on a platform taken from the Fiat Panda, with a new rear suspension and a body noted for its wedge shape, a near vertical matt black tailgate and a drag coefficient of 0.31. It was sold as an Autobianchi in Italy, France and Japan and as a Lancia elsewhere, and from the end of 1989 it became officially a Lancia in France, while Italy kept the Autobianchi badge until the end. The interior was unusually rich for the class, with Alcantara trim. Engines were the Fiat FIRE and an older Fiat unit, with a turbocharged version at launch and a four wheel drive Y10 4WD added in October 1986. The range was refreshed in 1989 and again in 1992, when production moved to the Alfa Romeo plant at Arese. A total of 1,133,774 were built, and it took second place in the 1986 Car of the Year vote.
