The Lancia Stratos HF is a rear mid-engined sports car designed for rallying and made by the Italian car manufacturer Lancia, and it was the first car designed from scratch for that kind of competition. It won the World Rally Championship in 1974, 1975 and 1976, the 1974 Targa Florio, the Tour de France Automobile five times and the Giro d Italia automobilistico three times. Bertone designed it around ideas of Marcello Gandini, after showing the Stratos Zero concept, and the prototype appeared at the 1971 Turin Motor Show with a Ferrari Dino V6 of 190 hp in road trim. Production of the 500 cars needed for Group 4 homologation began in 1973 and ended in 1975, with Bertone building the cars and Lancia assembling them at Chivasso. The road car reached 232 km/h.
