The Lancia Jota, from the Greek letter iota, was a series of truck and bus chassis made by Lancia between 1915 and 1935. The original 1915 Jota was Lancia's first true truck, designed for military use and making up two thirds of the company's roughly 3,000 wartime vehicles. It used the 4,940 cc four-cylinder petrol engine of 70 hp from the 1Z and Theta, with a four-speed gearbox, and the layout was kept through later variants named with Greek numeral prefixes, from the short-wheelbase Djota and the postwar Triota and Tetrajota to the Pentajota of 1924, which at almost 2,200 built was the most successful, the 13 very long Esajota bus chassis of 1926 and the final Eptajota of 1927. Most became military trucks, goods vehicles or buses, with special trucks and artillery tractors among other uses.
