Lancia Ionos

Automobiles

The Lancia Ionos is a concept car built under the Lancia name in 1997. Lancia asked the Swiss designer Franco Sbarro to reinterpret the Lancia Stratos for a modern audience, and the project was carried out at the Espera design school. Two of Lancia's 2.4 litre five cylinder engines were joined to make a single V10 of 400 horsepower, driven through a four speed manual gearbox of Porsche origin. The brakes were discs approved for cars in the DTM touring car championship, the body was made of composite material over a dual frame chassis, and two intakes on the flanks fed cooling air to the mechanical parts, while the exhaust ended in two sporting outlets. It remained a concept car.
