The Lancia Esatau was a series of truck and bus chassis built by Lancia Industrial Vehicles from 1947 to 1973, with 13,362 made. The truck chassis ran from 1947 to 1963, when the Esagamma replaced them, starting with the 4x2 Esatau 864 and followed the next year by the 6x2 964. They used an 8,245 cc overhead-cam inline-six diesel of 122 hp, enlarged in 1953 to 8,867 cc and 132 hp. The forward-control Esatau A arrived in 1955 and the 864 and 964 ended in 1957 as the last conventional-cab trucks Lancia built. City-bus chassis stayed in production from 1948 to 1973, used in Rome, Milan and Turin, with trolleybus and articulated versions, including trolleybuses for Athens and Porto. The Italian army also used the trucks.
