Lanchester Fourteen

Automobiles

The Lanchester Fourteen Roadrider was a six cylinder car introduced by the Lanchester Motor Company at the beginning of September 1936, named Roadrider for its special suspension features and billed as the lowest priced six cylinder Lanchester ever offered. It replaced the 12 hp Light Six with a larger 14 hp tax rated six cylinder engine in the Lanchester Eleven chassis and body, and the four door sports saloon was given a new razor edge body. Prices ranged from 250 pounds for a chassis to 340 pounds for the sports saloon. A new Roadrider announced in October 1937 had a different, larger engine, chassis and body with independent front suspension, and was a simpler, less luxurious version of the Daimler New Fifteen. The Fourteen continued after the Second World War, with the export version using a lighter all steel body under the Lanchester Leda name.
