Lagonda LG45

Automobiles

The Lagonda LG45 is a sports car built by the British Lagonda company from late 1935 until 1937, in the period after the firm entered receivership in 1935 and was reformed as LG Motors (Staines) Ltd. It was an evolution of the Lagonda M45, renamed to reflect the new company name and the car's 4.5 litre engine. The Meadows designed straight-six engine was updated under W. O. Bentley, who had recently joined the company, with a new exhaust manifold and twin magneto ignition, and output rose from 115 bhp to 128 bhp in the final versions. The car also gained hydraulic shock absorbers and rubber engine mounts. The LG45 was revised continually during its run, with three main versions known as Sanction 1, 2 and 3, and in late 1937 it was updated again and renamed the Lagonda LG6. A car driven by Richard Seaman and Freddie Clifford finished fourth in the 1936 24 Hours of Spa, and the model also entered the 1936 French Grand Prix and the 1937 24 Hours of Le Mans.
