The Lagonda 16/65 was a car that Lagonda introduced in 1926 and built until 1930, with around 250 made, of which only one surviving car is known to the Lagonda Club. Its engine was a new design by Arthur Davidson, formerly of Lea-Francis: an overhead-valve six-cylinder unit of 2389 cc at first, soon increased to 2692 cc, with a stroke of 120 mm and a bore of 65 mm rising to 69 mm for the larger size, fed by a single Zenith carburettor. A four-speed gearbox was driven through a single dry-plate clutch and a short shaft, with an open shaft to the spiral-bevel rear axle. The chassis was a lengthened version of the one used in the 14/60, with semi-elliptical leaf springs front and rear and wire-spoked wheels. Four-door saloon and tourer bodies were made by Lagonda, many of the saloons with fabric bodies, and some chassis went to outside coachbuilders. One car is recorded as having been used in place of a tractor to sweep hay.
