Lagonda 14/60

Automobiles

The Lagonda 14/60 is a sports touring car that Lagonda introduced in 1925 and built until 1931, with variants called the 2 Litre Speed (1927 to 1933) and the Continental (1932 only). The name refers to a fiscal horsepower rating of 14, actually 12.9, and an engine output of 60 bhp. The four-cylinder 1,954 cc engine was designed by Arthur Davidson and was notable for its valve gear, with two high mounted camshafts operating overhead valves through rockers, which allowed the detachable hemispherical cylinder head to be removed without disturbing the valve timing. The chassis was designed by A. E. Masters and had leaf springs and drum brakes on all four wheels. The 2 Litre Speed model of 1927 was tuned to give 70 bhp, and a supercharged version followed in 1930. Standard bodies were a saloon, a tourer and an open semi-sports, and according to the Lagonda Club about 1,440 cars were made.
