Kawasaki-Sifang T251

Passenger Rolling Stock and High-Speed Trainsets

The T251 is the electric multiple unit train of the Thomson-East Coast line of Singapore's MRT, built under Contract Turnkey 251 by Kawasaki Heavy Industries working with CRRC Qingdao Sifang. The Land Transport Authority bought 91 four-car trainsets in 2014 and the first was delivered on 25 May 2018. Kawasaki managed the project and made the bogies, while Sifang manufactured and assembled the trains. The cars have ten doors, five on each side, perch seats at the car ends, a route map display branded Train Vision and, on most sets, tip-up seats. Two sets carry an automatic track inspection system with cameras, lasers and sensors.
