Kamov Ka-92

Lighter-Than-Air Craft and Rotorcraft

The Kamov Ka-92 is a high-speed coaxial compound helicopter design that Kamov of Russia proposed in competition with the Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant for a 1.3 billion dollar government project. It belongs to a Russian Helicopters programme for a new generation of medium helicopters cruising near 500 km/h over up to 1,400 km. It would keep Kamov's coaxial rotors but add two rear pusher propellers, so that rotors handle vertical flight and propellers horizontal flight. It is planned as a 30-seat passenger helicopter of 16 tonnes take-off weight, powered by two Klimov VK-2500 engines at first. The work moved to the Ministry of Defence in 2015 because of reduced funding.
