Kamov Ka-90

Lighter-Than-Air Craft and Rotorcraft

The Kamov Ka-90 is a projected high-speed helicopter from Kamov, shown only as a model at the HeliRussia 2008 trade show in April 2008. The concept is a hybrid: it would fly like a helicopter for take-off and landing and like an aeroplane in cruise flight. Kamov general designer Sergei Mikheyev said the project began in 1985, and although it was not developed then it was under consideration in 2008. In December 2017 Oleg Zheltov, head of the Kamov Design Bureau, confirmed that work was under way, with the current stage covering research on design models and wind tunnel tests.
