Jeffery Quad

Trucks and Commercial Road Vehicles

The Jeffery Quad, also called the Nash Quad, was a four-wheel-drive, four-wheel-steer truck of one and a half tons developed by the Thomas B. Jeffery Company of Kenosha from 1912 and built by Nash Motors after 1916, with production continuing unchanged to 1928. It answered a United States Army call to replace four-mule teams and became a workhorse of the Allied forces in the First World War, serving with Pershing in Mexico and Europe, with the Marines in Haiti and the Dominican Republic and, in French service, as late as 1939. It started with a Rambler four-cylinder and moved to a Buda side-valve four of 312 cubic inches. At least 11,500 were built by 1919, and Nash made 11,490 in 1918 alone.
