The Jaguar Mark IV is the name later applied to the range of saloons Jaguar Cars built from 1945 to 1949 and sold as the Jaguar 1.5 litre, 2.5 litre and 3.5 litre. It was a return to production of the SS Jaguar models made from 1936 to 1940, and the company name changed from SS Cars Ltd to Jaguar Cars Ltd in March 1945. Every car used a separate chassis frame with semi-elliptic leaf springs on rigid axles at both ends. The 1.5 litre took a four-cylinder Standard engine, the 2.5 litre a six with overhead valves developed with Harry Weslake giving 105 bhp, and the 3.5 litre a larger six of 125 bhp. The Mark IV label was applied afterwards to distinguish the range from the Mark V that followed.
