Jaguar Kensington

Automobiles

The Jaguar Kensington was a concept car designed and built by Italdesign for Jaguar, shown first as a non-running full-size mock-up at the 1990 Geneva Motor Show and then as a working prototype at the 1990 British International Motor Show. Giorgetto Giugiaro's studio designed it as a possible successor to the XJ, with a sleeker shape and swooping roofline meant to leave the conventional three-box design behind. It was based on the Series 3 XJ12 chassis and used that car's 5.3 litre V12, making 295 hp, with power to the rear wheels through a GM three-speed automatic. The body had a longer front overhang, a shorter rear overhang and a higher roof. Jaguar did not put it into production, and the design was later adapted for the Daewoo Leganza.
