Jaguar C-X16

Automobiles

The Jaguar C-X16 was a concept hybrid electric sports car unveiled by Jaguar Cars at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show on 13 September. In April 2012 Jaguar announced that a new sports car based on it would be built as the F-Type, which was shown in non-hybrid form at the Paris show that September. The aluminium body was said to be Jaguar's smallest since the XK120 of 1954. Its drivetrain combined a supercharged 3 litre V6 petrol engine of 375 bhp with a 92 bhp electric motor and an eight-speed ZF automatic, and the car could run on engine alone, motor alone or both. Its styling took cues from the C-X75 and its side-hinged opening rear window recalled the 1961 E-Type. Jaguar quoted 0 to 62 mph in 4.4 seconds and a limited top speed of 186 mph.
