The Isuzu Unicab was a small sport utility vehicle that Isuzu produced from 1967 to 1974. It was first presented at the Tokyo Motor Show in 1966 and offered in Japan from July 1967 at a price of 490,005 yen, at first as a four seat pickup with a 1.3 litre gasoline engine that was later enlarged to 1.5 litres. In 1970 a version with two side benches on the load area raised capacity to eight seats, and shortly after the start of sales a convertible top became available, with a windshield that could be folded down until new safety standards in 1970. It was aimed at younger buyers as a recreational and city vehicle and had no all-wheel drive. Sales were low and production stopped in 1974, although in 1972 the Indonesian armed forces bought several hundred for the Navy and Coast Guard.
