Isuzu TX

Trucks and Commercial Road Vehicles

The Isuzu TX series was a line of heavy-duty trucks built from 1934 until the end of World War II and, after production resumed in 1946, until 1979. Powered by gasoline or diesel engines, it was the company's first successful heavy truck and served as a fire truck, tank truck, construction vehicle, dump truck and cargo carrier. It shared a chassis with the BX series bus and evolved from the Isuzu Sumida bus first produced in 1929. The prewar TX35 carried 1.5 tons and the TX40 two tons, both with a 4.4 litre flathead six-cylinder gasoline engine. After the war the gasoline TX80 and the diesel TX61 competed with the Toyota FA, Mitsubishi Fuso and Nissan Diesel.
