Isuzu Piazza

Automobiles

The Isuzu Piazza is a small, sporty three-door liftback coupe that Isuzu built from 1981 to 1993 across two generations. Its wedge-shaped first generation grew out of the Asso di Fiori show car that Giorgetto Giugiaro designed to replace the 117 Coupe and showed at the 1979 Tokyo Motor Show; it was rear-wheel drive and used 2.0 litre four-cylinder engines, later with a turbocharger. The second generation was designed on a General Motors platform and used front-wheel or all-wheel drive. The car was sold as the Isuzu Impulse in North America, as the Holden Piazza in Australia and, in its second generation, as the Gemini Coupe in Japan and the Geo Storm in the United States. Lotus tuned the suspension of later cars, and in the United Kingdom it was the first widely available Isuzu passenger car.
