Honda introduced a limited edition in 2003, the Valkyrie Rune, with an engine of 1,832 cc taken from the fifth-generation Gold Wing. It was a big departure from the original Valkyrie in styling and in purpose, meant as a tour de force to show what Honda could develop, with, as project leader Masanari Aoki put it, no performance goals, no distinct function and no concern about the purchase price. Honda made every part except the engine specially for the Rune. Each model year has its own page.
