The fifth-generation Honda Civic was produced from 1991 until 1995 and debuted in Japan on September 9, 1991, winning the Car of the Year Japan award for the second time. It was larger and more aerodynamic than its predecessor, with a longer wheelbase and a softer ride, and it added a two-door coupe for the 1993 model year. The VX hatchback of 1992 became a fuel economy benchmark, and the 1.6 litre VTEC engine in the Si and EX raised the profile of the 1.6 litre class. The Shuttle wagon was not part of this generation. Each model year, 1992 to 1995, has its own page.
