The original Ford Maverick was a compact car that Ford built and sold across eight model years, 1970 through 1977. It replaced the Falcon in North America, was launched as a two door fastback at a price of 1,995 dollars to fight imports, and gained a four door sedan in 1971. It used the rear wheel drive chassis of the Falcon, shared with the Mustang, and its Mercury twin was the revived Comet. This site gives every generation and every model year its own page, in one generation: the single generation (1970 to 1977 model years).
