Ford F-Series (first generation, Bonus-Built)

Automobiles

The first F-Series, called the Bonus-Built trucks, was a post war line that went on sale on 16 January 1948 and marked the divergence of Ford car and truck design, with a chassis developed just for trucks. The cab cost a million dollars to engineer and was seven inches wider than before. Sold as eight chassis, from the F-1 pickup to the heavy F-8, it was the only F-Series generation to use only flathead engines, and in Canada it was also sold as the Mercury M-Series. Each model year has its own page.
