Eurocopter AS365 Dauphin

Lighter-Than-Air Craft and Rotorcraft

The Eurocopter AS365 Dauphin, originally the Aérospatiale SA 365 Dauphin 2, is a medium-weight multipurpose twin-engine helicopter produced by Airbus Helicopters, successor to Eurocopter. French firm Aérospatiale originally developed and built it as a twin-engine development of the single-engine SA 360 Dauphin. The first twin-engine prototype flew on 24 January 1975 and set speed records, including Paris to London at an average of 321 kilometres an hour, and the first production SA 365C entered service after French certification in July 1978. The Dauphin is typically powered by a pair of Turbomeca Arriel turboshaft engines. It stayed in continuous production for more than 40 years, with the last delivery in 2021, and more than 1,000 AS365, AS366 and AS565 versions had been produced by 2012. The H160 is its intended successor.
