Dixi U 35

Automobiles

The Dixi U 35 was the largest car the Fahrzeugfabrik Eisenach built under the Dixi marque before the First World War. It had a four-cylinder engine of 7,320 cc with the cylinders cast in pairs, rated at 65 PS at 1,100 rpm, a top speed of 85 km/h and shaft drive to the rear axle. The German Wikipedia model list shows it as a saloon limousine dated 1905 to 1914, while a 1976 history of the Eisenach works dates it 1907 to 1914, so both start years are recorded. Its chassis also served as the base for the subsidised army lorries the works built, and the Dixi military lorries of 1914 to 1918 used the U 35 chassis.
