The Dixi R 12 was a four-cylinder touring car built by the Dixi-Werke at Eisenach between 1910 and 1914, the same years the German Wikipedia list of Dixi models gives for it. The History Trust of South Australia record for a 1914 R12 tourer in the National Motor Museum at Birdwood gives its engine as a four-cylinder of 2.6 litres and 18 horsepower and says about 553 were built before the First World War interrupted production. That surviving car reached Australia as a rolling chassis, and its coachwork was completed locally by T J Richards in South Australia, so its tourer body is an Australian one rather than a factory body. The museum calls it one of the last pre-war German cars of its kind that were imported into Australia, and notes that BMW took over the Dixi works in 1928.
