The Dennis Lancet was a lightweight underfloor-engined chassis built by Dennis in the 1980s and launched in 1981. It reused a name earlier carried by a front-engined chassis and by the Lancet UF of the 1950s and early 1960s. Mostly used as the basis of buses and coaches, some became mobile libraries, and a few operators ordered it with a wheelchair lift before low-floor buses arrived. Merseyside PTE had the largest British fleet with ten, and Leicester Citybus, West Midlands PTE, Tillingbourne, Blackpool and Portsmouth were also customers. About 87 chassis were built, nearly a third exported, to Bermuda and South Africa. The Dennis Javelin replaced it.
