Dennis DS series

Trucks and Commercial Road Vehicles

The Dennis DS series was a compact fire engine with a tilting cab, built by Dennis Specialist Vehicles from 1979 to the early 1990s. It was almost identical in construction, both visually and mechanically, to the Dennis RS/SS series, apart from a shorter wheelbase. That made it suitable for fire brigades that work in tight rural areas where full-size fire engines cannot easily go. Operators of the Dennis DS included the Devon, Cheshire, Hertfordshire and Durham County fire brigades, as well as the Dublin Fire Brigade. Eight were built with HCB Angus bodies for the North Yorkshire and Hampshire fire brigades between 1987 and 1989.
