Daimler Regency

Automobiles

The Daimler Regency series was a luxury car made in Coventry by The Daimler Company Limited between 1951 and 1958. Only about 49 of the three-litre Regency chassis were made because demand for new cars collapsed weeks after its introduction in October 1951. In October 1954 a lengthened and more powerful Regency Mark II, the DF304, was announced and 345 were built before the faster One-O-Four of October 1955 replaced it. The first car had a new three-litre six-cylinder engine derived from the four-cylinder two-litre engine of the Lanchester Fourteen, with twin SU carburettors and 90 bhp, and a standard Barker saloon body that closely resembled the Lanchester Fourteen. Hooper added Empress II bodies in 1952, and a few Special Sports cars were made.
