CSR EMU (Argentina)

Passenger Rolling Stock and High-Speed Trainsets

The CSR EMU is a series of electric multiple unit cars manufactured by CSR Corporation Limited for the commuter rail network of Buenos Aires. An order in January 2013 covered 405 cars for the Mitre and Sarmiento lines and a second order in August 2013 added 300 cars for the Roca Line, with 200 more bought for the Roca Line in 2017. The units were built at CSR's Qingdao factory and the 709 cars cost 841 million dollars including research and shipping. They work on lines electrified both by third rail and by overhead wire, with the Roca Line trains using overhead collection at 25,000 volts. The Sarmiento Line began running them in July 2014, followed by the Mitre and Roca lines, and Trenes Argentinos operates them all.
