The Citroën C5 is a large family car that Citroën built in France from 2000 to 2018, and in China from 2008 to 2022, in two generations. It replaced the Xantia and was the first modern Citroën with the Cx naming style used earlier by the C4 and C6 of 1930. The first generation was a five-door liftback or estate with Hydractive 3 suspension, which uses electronic sensors in place of mechanical height correctors, and 720,000 were made before production ended in December 2007. The second generation, shown in January 2008, dropped the liftback for a three-box saloon, kept hydropneumatic suspension as an option, and shared its underpinnings with the C6. It was withdrawn in Britain in 2016. A separate crossover, the C5 X, uses the name from 2021.
