The Citroën C3-XR is a subcompact crossover made only for China by Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroën, the Franco-Chinese joint venture. It is derived from the C-Elysée and was previewed by the C-XR concept at the 2014 Beijing show, then shown at the 2014 Paris show and launched in China on 21 December 2014. At launch buyers could choose a 1.6 litre engine of 117 hp or a turbocharged 1.6 litre of 167 hp, and in 2016 a turbocharged 1.2 litre four cylinder petrol engine of 134 hp with a six-speed automatic was added. A special edition marked the joint venture's twenty-fifth anniversary in 2017. The car was facelifted in 2019 and again in May 2021 to echo the C3 Aircross, and a three-box version called the C3L was sold from 2020 to 2021.
