The Chrysler Windsor was a full-size car that Chrysler built from 1939 into the 1960s. The last Windsor sold in the United States was made in 1961, but Canadian production continued until 1966, when the car was in effect the Canadian equivalent of the Newport. It matched the more luxurious New Yorker in size, interior and standard features but could be had only with the Chrysler Straight Six that had started the company in 1925, offering a luxurious car with a modest and economical engine. The first Windsor, in 1939, was the senior model above the Royal and was called the Royal Windsor, and after the Royal was dropped for 1951 it became Chrysler's six-cylinder coupe until the Poly V8 arrived in 1955.
