The Chrysler Valiant VE was built by Chrysler Australia from 1967 to 1969 and released in October 1967, replacing the VC. It was larger than any previous Valiant, with styling based on the American Dodge Dart and Plymouth Valiant, Australian influence from the A-pillar back and an Australian convex grille. The premium model was renamed Valiant VIP because the V8 became an option across the range. New features included dual-line brakes, safety wheel rims, front safety belts and front disc brakes on V8 models. It came as a four-door sedan, five-door wagon and coupe utility, was the first series with a choice of three engines, won Wheels magazine's Car of the Year for 1968, and 68,688 were built.
