Chrysler Sigma

Automobiles

The Chrysler Sigma was a version of the Mitsubishi Galant that Chrysler Australia built in Adelaide, South Australia, from 1977. Chrysler launched the GE series Sigma in October 1977 to replace the outgoing GD Galant, and when Mitsubishi Motors Australia took over Chrysler Australia's manufacturing in 1980 it renamed the car the Mitsubishi Sigma. The base car used a 56 kilowatt Saturn engine and the mid-range GL a 1.85 litre Astron with a four-speed manual, and in March 1978 a Japanese-made two-door coupe, the Sigma Scorpion, joined it, based on the Galant Lambda. The Mitsubishi Magna replaced the range from 1985 for the sedan and 1987 for the wagon.
