The Chrysler Saratoga was a sport luxury model that carried the Chrysler name in three separate periods. It arrived in 1939 with the Straight Eight engine, a year after the New Yorker, and for a time cost more than that car. In 1951 it introduced the 331 cubic inch overhead valve Hemi V8, but it was dropped in 1953 as the New Yorker and later the 300 became the performance cars. Chrysler revived it from 1957 to 1965 as a cheaper junior model to the 300, and in Europe from 1989 to 1995 the name was put on a rebadged Dodge Spirit with a 3.0 litre V6. It was named after Saratoga Springs, New York.
